Lidl Warwick Solar PV
End Client: Lidl GB
M&E Consultants: DDA Ltd
Main Contractor: 2MS Construction
SQ4S was approached by M&E Consultants, DDA Ltd, to design and install a three-phase commercial Solar PV system for a new Lidl food store located in Warwick. The installation aims to reduce Lidl’s dependency on grid electricity and significantly minimise its carbon emissions.
The project presented two distinct challenges; the first was to arrange the transportation of the materials to the site in Warwick and complete the installation in line with the building programme of the new store, presenting no delays. Secondly, the utility room had to be carefully configured to house three large inverters essential to the delivery of the project, which required strategic planning and precise execution by all concerned.
SQ4S designed an advanced Solar PV System, working to Lidl’s specification, utilising a trapezoidal roof mounting system, JA Solar Monocrystanine panels, three Huawei Solar Inverters, and a G99 relay.
The design team at SQ4S methodically produced Solar PV system layout plans for the project, SLDs, and solar generation reports, which were presented to the client, and approved for installation. On behalf of Lidl GB, SQ4S also made the G99 application prior to the installation to ensure the system could be connected to the local grid without issue.
The team was conscious of the challenges the project presented, ensuring the restricted utility room was accurately configured so the inverters could fulfil their essential role.
Working seamlessly alongside the main contractor, 2MS, on-site, the SQ4S installation team fully integrated into the build, completing the installation quickly and efficiently, meeting the strict deadline of the store launch.
SQ4S handled the project from the design phase to the commissioning and installation of the three-phase commercial Solar PV system at the Warwick site.
The system is now generating an impressive 155,000kWh per year.
Not only will this reduce Lidl’s electricity bill, but it will also lower carbon emissions by 36 tonnes per year, the equivalent of 17 x 3-bedroom residential properties.
