M&E Contractor: A&B Engineering
Main Contractor: Vinci Construction

End Client: Liverpool City Council

The Challenge

To install a 45kWp flat roof mounted system. Originally designed on the north facing roof, Square 4 services (SQ4S) was tasked with completing a full redesign of the system working with the structural engineer to ensure that the structure would withstand the ballast required. It was also essential to complete a design that had no visual impact to the adjacent residential dwellings on the South side of the school.

The Solution

SQ4S completed a design and build technical specification and completed a wind and point loading report for approval from the structural surveyor. The system proposed was a low ballast ‘A Frame’ system which also ensured the panels did not protrude from the roof more than 300mm. this kept the visual impact to a minimum.

The Result

The system was installed in stages, working closely with the nominated roofing contractor and on-site engineers. Project managed to ensure minimal disruption to other services on site. The system was relocated to the south facing roof space to ensure optimal performance and cost savings at installation stage ensured we completed the project on time and under budget.
