Sky Gardens Manchester - Solar PV
Sky Gardens Manchester – Solar PV
End Client: DeTrafford Estates Group
M&E Contractor: Quartzelec
Main Contractor: Pochin Construction
Architects: Ollier Smurthwaite
There were several challenges within this project. We had to design an installation that helped the project meet the planning requirements from Manchester City Council to 15% improvement on Carbon emissions over Part L compliancy. We had to work closely with the Quartzelec to ensure our design met the specification in the roof space available and did not cause any issues with other services on the roof space.
SQ4S provided a design and build technical solution to our clients Quartzelec to ensure sufficient generation and completed a wind and point loading report for approval from the structural Engineer. We completed a full design and loading plan with the help of Van der Valk (mounting system manufacturer).
SQ4S installed a 40.5kW flat roof mounted Solar PV installation, working closely with the roofing contractors. The system is cabled to and internally mounted inverter on the floor below mounted. The ballasting installed is sufficient to withstand the wind loading on this 12 story residential development on Chester Road in Manchester.
